Jeremy (they/them) is a writer and multi-disciplinary theatre artist based in Brooklyn, who is fascinated and thrilled by language; arcane, consumer-grade electronics; and all things impossible.
Jeremy’s work explores themes of labor, identity, religiosity, rhetoric, knowledge, ethics, and repressive systems. They create novel forms for each of their projects based on the questions that arise from the topic of the piece, the systems that underpin the topic and the technologies that make its theatrical depiction possible. As a generative artist and a collaborator, their work is a perpetual synthesis of the dialectic of high and low cultures. It—much like Jeremy—is definitively literary, punk, beautiful, lewd, deliberate, queer, ugly, audacious, and asks so many questions.
The objects of Jeremy’s artistic investigation are also a vital part of how they think about the process of realizing their work with talented collaborators. They are therefore committed to realizing radically fair and equitable labor systems from the moment an individual comes onto a project through strike. Values included in this commitment include financial transparency, accessibility, fair pay, creating excellent working conditions, and adapting to access needs.
Jeremy is half of the on-going performance project “doxies” with their partner RED.
